Aerial Dance in Nature

Movement Beyond Limits.

Épica Aerial Dance is a research laboratory and movement project dedicated to taking aerial dance out of traditional studios and into unconventional, natural landscapes.

Rooted in somatic awareness, physical theater, and harness exploration, our work bridges technical precision with deep physical listening. From floating above waters to anchoring onto mountain rock faces, we create immersive movement experiences that challenge spatial perception and awaken our instinctive relationship with nature and gravity.

Empowering aerialists and movement artists to break through repetitive training and reconnect with their artistic essence. We create immersive nature experiences that transform your creative evolution into authentic visual art, through our A.W.A.K.E. Method™

Our Story

Épica was born to challenge the traditional boundaries of aerial dance, moving beyond studio walls into open, unpredictable environments. Rooted in somatic research, physical theatre, and harness exploration, our journey began on the waters of the Río de la Plata, experimenting with aerial dance and rigging directly from sailboats to explore the dialogue between wind, body, and gravity.

This initial inquiry evolved into three groundbreaking retreat editions in Argentine Patagonia—launching the first two in 2020 and returning for a third immersive research cycle in 2024. We rigged and danced from native forests, mountain rock faces, and a sailing vessel navigating Lake Nahuel Huapi, turning the wild landscape into an active dance partner.

Now based in South Florida, Épica expands this site-specific research into coastal waters, open-air laboratories, and educational training. We are currently preparing our next season of coastal experiences in Miami while curating our upcoming return to Patagonia in 2027.

Gigi Bostjancic

Founder & Artistic Director of Épica

Performer, instructor, and movement researcher with over 20 years of experience. Her background seamlessly bridges physical theatre, body expression, yoga, and circus aerial disciplines, including lyra, hammock, trapeze, and chinesse pole.

In 2014, Gigi’s artistic vision was recognized internationally when she was awarded an Emerging Choreographer fellowship to participate in the prestigious International Aerial Dance Festival (ADF) hosted by Frequent Flyers in Colorado.

As the creator and founder of Épica, Gigi designs high-end artistic and pedagogical experiences that integrate art, health, and human connection. A pioneer in site-specific aerial research, she has spent years exploring how natural elements—from her early exploration with a local ensemble on a 30-foot sailboat in Buenos Aires and deep movement research aboard a 40-foot vessel in Brazil, to Patagonian mountains, ancient forests, Lake Nahuel Huapi, and the open waters of South Florida—reshape the aerial body and unlock authentic artistic identity.

Currently based in South Florida, Gigi’s life mission is to untether artists from the repetitive mirrors of traditional studios, reconnecting them with raw nature to strip away technical noise and return to the very root of what moves us.
